Remember I went on and on about family genealogy a couple months ago. Well, I thought I would continue the drama.
We ended with my Great Great Grandfather Harry Cassidy dying and leaving his wife Grace with 4 kids and one on the way in Reading, PA.Well, Grace was living with her father and the kids and everyone who was old enough got a job. My great grandmother's twin (harry's mom had 4 sets of twins) brother was killed tragically when he was riding his bike down hill and was hit by a car. That only left 4 sisters - Mary, Helen, Bea and Rita. So here the roaring twenty's hit. My Great Grandmother is a flapper, dancing on tables at speakeasies in Philidelpia. She gets involved with a ganster by the name of Earl Mock. He is part of Charles Luciano's group running liquor during prohibition. Anyway, she got pregnant by Earl, married him, had my grandmother (Jane), divorced Earl. She was going to give my grandmother up for adoption but her mother (Grace) wouldn't hear of it so Grace raised Jane. Weirdly, Earl remarried and had another daughter whom I have been in contact with. She sent me pictures. So Helen, being the restless spirit she was, tried the whole scenario again, get pregnant, get married, get divorced with no better luck. She was blazing her way through a brilliant career in cafe waitress and even made it on either the cover of time or life for the cafe that sold the most hienz 57 catchup. By the 1960 she had been married 3 times, divorced twice and her last husband died, her son died and her daughter that she gave to her mother to raise moved to Texas. So she packed up and moved to be closer to her daughter ~ Jane. By 1965 they end up in El Paso, TX.
