Usually when I see a car accident, I keep driving. There are a ton of "helpful" people or emergency personnel all over the seen. Today, bringing the kids home from school there was a roll over off of HWY 30 by the bridge where 47 intersects. There were a couple cars but no emergency personnel. There wasn't even sirens. The wheels, which were pointing to the sky were still rocking.
I stopped. I never stop.
I grabbed a blanket and some towels we kept in the back.
This girl (under 25) had gone off the road about 1/8 of a mile back, tried to avoid one ditch, hit the other one and the vehicle did this spinny thing.
Anyway, when I walk up she is trying to get her purse, phone, and other stuff out of the car.
The car is not running but hissing. I tell this guy to go ahead and turn the ignition to OFF so the electric current is stopped. (you would think this would be logical). I talked to the woman. She was really okay. She had side impact airbags and her seatbelt on. I wrapped her in a blanket and made sure she didn't have any major injuries. The only thing she had was a laceration on her left leg that needed to be stitched.
I never stop.
The emergency guys came, did there thing and left. I was questioned. I am sure in the report it will say "the lady with the blanket". I stayed until I was sure the cop was going to take her to the hospital. I told her - "THE MAN is going to tranport you to the hospital in the BACK of the vehicle with the lights on, so if you need to start rumors or something, have him drive by some of your friends house and pound on the window as you go by." She laughed. ... he didn't.
She gave me back me blanket and smiled. I left.
Why did I stop?
