We rescued a 14 week old puppy this weekend. The boys conspired against me and pooled their money to come up with the $40 adoption fee, David didn't object and so I caved like cheap canvas tent on a windy night. (She has a brother if anyone is interested) She is a border collie / lab/ sneaky neighbor dog mix & as is precious and we named her Jetta Belle. Jetta is the Latin feminine for Black and Belle is because we live in the south (and SUE didn't sound right). The happy family with their new addition was heading home from the place we picked her up & there was this awful smell.... Jetta had pooped on my backseat... The bad news... its leather, the good news, its leather. All the windows AND the moon roof shot open - I didn't know a puppy could make a pile THAT big. So we pull into the gas station and 4 humans and a puppy go diving out of the van. OH my goodness... I got some of those blue towels from the window washing station and grabbed what I could from the back seat. I actually think I pulled a muscle in my throat gagging during the event. So we finally get things to a tolerable level and get home. I finished the cleaning job at home. She managed to Poo on the buckle insert part of the seatbelt. I had to come up with a creative way to clean that out. It involved a toothpick and some q-tips. Trust me, you don't want to know the details (but call me if you are ever faced with a similar situation and after I finish laughing at you I will explain the process). Coco and JettaBelle worked on SIT for about 20 minutes & Co has got it down. Now I need a collar and a leash so we can take her running. Connie already is awesome when it comes to going jogging, we need to train Jetta just a bit before she can free run. I am intentionally leaving out the fact that I make the children run with the dogs so you would be under the misconception that I am hoofin it up and down the street! Now you know part of why I feel like the cat slamming into the wall. 1594

I have one word for you...SUCKER!! Hee hee. Make sure she is one a good diet...makes the "mess" smaller and not as offensive to the nose. The cheaper the dog food the worse said problem will be. Purina makes a lamb and rice for puppies....good luck:)
We are currently operating a rescue mission at our house. Our dogs need to be RESCUED FROM US! You could've gotten an almost 1 year old chocolate lab from us.... FREE!
