"And I made that one...."

Every year (or so) when we pull out the "ornament" box, each child has their own collection of ornaments that they had made or that were given to them by friends or family. The ones they made are mostly paper with glitter or dough with markers except for one. They are the prized and coveted glass handmade ornaments they made in Temple in 2003. They are kept in their very own containers with pictures of the ornament being created.

For a couple years now the kids have been begging me to go and do it again. Between being busy and being flat broke around Christmas - it just never happened,,, until this year. Ryno glass only does this three Saturdays a year and you have to make an appointment. David was working in Temple on a Friday night on a weekend when Ryno was going to have the ornament event. So we all went up, David, John Zachary, Nicole, my other daughter - Rachel and I. David worked and we spent the night at a hotel. He got off work and we all went over to Ryno Glass. The kids were fascinated by the whole process. They first had to select their colors. Then they would watch the glass expand as they blew into the tube and their eyes would grow as the glass did. They followed their glass ball as it went through the studio to the prep table to have a "hooky thingy" put on the top and then into the cooling vat. They were so excited. Bob will be shipping the ornamets to me this week. I will post a picture of them when they come in.

That is so cool! Is it really expensive? And how do you find out about when they are doing it?? I always loved watching the glass blowers on Mr. Rogers and shows like that when I was a kid. :)
